First Year - Wood Project

Program:
The program for this project was to take a three and a half inch by three and a half inch section of the cardboard model and expanded it to make a twelve inch by twelve inch wooden model.  Then we had to transform that section of the model to make a building that would house the painting.  Then we worked in the woodshop to make the wooden model.  Before making the model we had to make mylar drawings of what would be built.  After building the model we made a pencil isometric drawing of the model.
Wooden Model
Design Intent:
For this project I took the center of the cardboard model to expand for the wooden model.  I modified the section so that there were stairs leading up to the top section.  I made the top open up to reveal the painting.

First Year - Cardboard Model

Program:
After that we took the five analysis drawings and worked on making a cardboard model that represented the painting and the analysis drawings.  After we finished the cardboard model we made mylar drawings of the model.
Cardboard model derived from analysis of Highways and Byways

Design Intent:
My design for the cardboard model was to represent the painting in a 3-D form.  I looked at the line and vertical motion that was in the painting and represented that in the model.

First Year - Picture Analysis

Program:
The program for this project was to take one of the assigned paintings and analyze the painting looking at color, light, solid/void, line, shape, motion, ect. After analyzing the picture, we took four of the attributes and represented the analysis in three colors of colored paper as well as one other material.  After we analyzed the painting and made the colored paper drawings, we made an analysis drawing to combine the four colored paper drawings.  This part of the project took two weeks and was our catalyst project.

Colored paper analysis of Paul Klee's painting Highways and Byways looking at line.
Colored paper analysis of Paul Klee's painting Highways and Byways looking at color.
Colored paper analysis of Paul Klee's painting Highways and Byways looking at shape.
Colored paper analysis of Paul Klee's painting Highways and Byways looking at motion.
Drawing analysis of Paul Klee's painting Highways and Byways

Design Intent:
My design intent was to represent Paul Klee's painting, Highways and Byways, to the best of my ability.  For the colored paper drawings I decided to look at the different colors, lines, shapes, and motion represented in the painting.  After that I took those four drawings and combined them to make my drawing analysis showing line, shape, and motion.
